The risk most homeowners don't see

An unlicensed roofer is a lawsuit waiting to land on your homeowner's policy.

Roofing has one of the highest workplace injury rates of any trade. When something goes wrong on your property and the contractor isn't insured, the bill — medical, legal, structural — comes to you.

Worker injury liability

If an uninsured roofer falls off your roof, your homeowner's policy can be the only payer. Medical bills and lost-wages claims can run six figures.

Property damage exposure

A misplaced step through soft decking. A dropped ladder through a window. Without contractor insurance, repairs come out of your pocket — or your insurance deductible.

No legal recourse

Connecticut requires contractors to register (HIC license) for any home improvement over $200. Unlicensed work voids your right to file a complaint with the state if things go sideways.

We carry general liability + workers' comp on every job.

Trust Proof Roofing is registered with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (HIC #0703927). Our insurance covers our crew on your property — not yours. You can request a Certificate of Insurance naming you as additional insured before we start any job.

Always ask any contractor for proof of license + insurance. If they hesitate, walk away.

Our promise

Every repair carries a 1-year leak warranty.

If the area we repaired leaks again within 12 months, we come back and fix it at no charge. No fine print. No deductible. We document the work with before-and-after photos so the warranty boundary is crystal clear.

  • Workmanship covered for 12 full months
  • Before/after photo documentation on every job
  • Same crew you hired returns for the warranty visit

Repair Warranty

12 months

on workmanship of the repaired area

Replacements get more: 20-year leak warranty + manufacturer materials warranty up to 50 years.

Why proper repair matters

A bad repair costs more than no repair.

Most roof failures we see started as small problems patched by someone who didn't follow the manufacturer's install spec. Here's what hides under sloppy work.

Hidden moisture damage

Tar-and-pray patches trap water under the surface. Decking rots, insulation soaks up the moisture, and mold spreads in the attic — often invisible until the ceiling stains or a structural inspector catches it during a sale.

Voided manufacturer warranty

Most shingle and membrane manufacturers void their material warranty if installation deviates from spec — wrong fastener pattern, missing underlayment, or incompatible sealants. A cheap patch can cost you a 30-year material warranty.

Insurance claim denial

If a future storm causes damage and the adjuster finds prior unpermitted or substandard work, your claim can be partially denied or paid at depreciated value. Document every repair properly to keep your policy intact.

Cascading failures

A repaired flashing that wasn't properly stepped will channel water sideways into a different part of the roof. Six months later, the leak shows up across the house — and now you're paying twice.

Frequently asked questions

What does a typical repair cost?

Most repairs run between $280 and $2,500 depending on scope. Simple flashing or shingle replacement is on the lower end; extensive water damage or multiple penetrations sit higher. We give you the price before any work starts — no surprises.

What if you find more damage once you're on the roof?

We stop, photograph the additional damage, and give you a written change-order with the new price before continuing. Nothing gets fixed without your approval.

Do you handle insurance claims for storm damage?

Yes. If your repair is from a recent storm and you want to file a claim, we'll document the damage properly for the adjuster and provide an itemized estimate that meets carrier requirements.

What does the 1-year warranty actually cover?

Workmanship on the area we repaired. If that area leaks again within 12 months from any cause that's tied to our work, we come back and fix it free. Storm damage to other sections of the roof is separate (your insurance handles that).

Can I see your license and insurance certificate?

Always. CT HIC #0703927 is on file with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. We'll email you a Certificate of Insurance naming you as additional insured before we start any job — just ask.
